Introduction

A lot is going on at ArcelorMittal Belgium concerning the climate. Various projects are ongoing or will soon be launched to ensure that our impact on the climate is as low as possible. The goal is to be carbon-neutral by 2050. The first step in our roadmap was the brand new Steelanol plant. The next step to be taken by 2030 is building an Electric Arc Furnace installation to replace one of the Blast Furnaces. An EAF heats metal by means of an electric arc where a current is run through the charged metal. This will allow us to use 100% scrap metal to produce steel and reduce our CO2 emissions drastically.

What does the job entail?

As an electrical engineer, you will be responsible for managing projects related to low, medium or high voltage in our new EAF (Electric Arc Furnace):

  • You have a profound knowledge and experience in electrical engineering and are able to implement your knowledge to manage brownfield projects.
  • You manage and implement the application of technical specifications, plans, standards and procedures as well as the delivery with the necessary "as built" information.
  • You coordinate different involved departments in ArcelorMittal in order to define the scope.
  • You align EPCM and OEM requirements with available utilities.
  • Together with the scheduler, you plan, estimate, develop and maintain schedules for electrical project deliverables.
  • You approve both the electrical plans and designs and the requests for change on infrastructural topics.

Depending on your experience and interests, you will be responsible for specific projects and have a more leading role in the projects. This will be discussed during the interview.

Are you the right candidate?

  • You have a Master’s degree and a profound knowledge of electrical engineering.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Your creativity allows you to develop new ideas or concepts.
  • You have good communication skills, fluent in English.
  • You are eager to learn.
